Difference between solid tire and foam filled tire

Solid tire is a kind of tire corresponding to pneumatic tire. Its carcass is solid and does not need cord as skeleton. Therefore, it does not need inner tube or inner liner. It has the advantages of high load capacity, wear resistance and puncture resistance

At present, polyurethane or sponge rubber are mainly filled in the tire: Polyurethane filled tire is filled with polyurethane rubber through the valve. Due to the pressure of filling, the polyurethane can be fastened with the rim after curing, thus forming a whole; the sponge rubber filled tire is filled with the foam effect of sponge rubber, and the sponge rubber is used to fill the tire A large pressure is generated in the carcass to make the sponge body fasten to the rim. However, both polyurethane filling and sponge rubber filling have relatively big disadvantages: the raw material cost of polyurethane filling is high, which is 2-3 times of that of ordinary rubber, and the heat resistance of polyurethane is low. If the tire is used for a long time, the polyurethane is easy to melt, which makes the tire lose its use value.

Generally speaking, solid tire and filled tire have their own advantages. The specific selection of tire needs to be determined according to the actual application scenarios.
